The Trust is consulted on all planning applications affecting Weaverham and have always aimed to stick to planning policies in our responses. We have been involved with a number of high profile cases including the Anaconda development and the Rail Substation, both which resulted in positive outcomes for the village.

We are lucky to be an inset village within Green belt. The Trust’s policy is to protect the Green belt from inappropriate development. There are two conservation areas in the village. It is the Trust’s policy to preserve the characteristics of the village with wider aims such as the local Council’s Local Plan.

achieve_SAGSubstation Action Group (SAG)

This group was formed to fight a planning application to build a large substation on the edge of Weaverham. It would have been a huge blot on the landscape. Working with other local partners, such as Parish Councils and  local authorities, we were eventually successful in getting the application turned down.

Five years of planning battles and legal action came to an end in April 2011 when two buildings in Village Close were finally demolished. The Trust took a leading part in the battle after the developer, Anaconda Investments, had built the two buildings too close to the home of residents Norma and Noel Carter.

Membership of the Trust is open to everyone living in the parish of Weaverham. If you would like to join or need further information please Contact Us
